Artissima is pleased to present Fondamenta, a digital project on artissima.art created in association with the galleries, and for the galleries, that are the cornerstones of our Fair.
Formulated by the new curatorial board of Artissima 2020, Fondamenta brings together the works of about 200 artists, one from each gallery, shown on five imaginary walls that represent the iconic sections of Artissima.
With its curatorial vision, Fondamenta is more than just a viewing room: it offers an accurate and original overview of contemporary practices and promotes discovery while looking forward to the next edition, which will eagerly focus on the transformations that are currently under way.
True to the quest for artistic research, which underpins both the Fair and the galleries involved, the large virtual walls of Fondamenta illustrate some of the most experimental developments up to a value of €15,000.
The Main Section of the digital Fondamenta includes the works of Ana Prvački, Yann Sérandour, Michael E. Smith, Mario García Torres, Nathlie Provosty, Rosalind Nashashibi, and Wilfredo Prieto, among others.
Drawings is entirely devoted to women artists. The medium offers intimate insights into the world of internationally renowned artists such as Juliette Blightman, Silke Otto-Knapp, Irma Blank, Monica Bonvicini, and Dasha Shishkin.
Through artistic experiments of outstanding individuality, Present Future paints a visionary future tableau with the works of many artists, including Valentina Liernur, Shadi Habib Allah, Jonathas De Andrade, Santiago De Paoli, and Roberto Fassone.
Back to the Future is key to understanding a world that is past and yet still very present, as we see in the works of Robert Breer, Hassan Sharif, Giorgio Griffa, Hanne Darboven, and Lars Fredrikson, to name but a few: all artists who have taken part in the past 10 editions of Artissima.
In these times of social distancing, the concept of identity will acquire intrinsically interdisciplinary forms in the works of the New Entries, among which: Anna Dot, Sarah Faux, Vanessa Disler, Nora Turato, Josefin Arnell, and Saskia Te Nicklin.
We hope you will appreciate Fondamenta, and we invite you to explore its original and attentive selection as well as the great variety of themes and media it comprises.
Fondamenta will be online until 5 July 2020.
